A fresh start, a new beginning. Those are the words that crossed my mind as my wife and I began our move to sunny Maricopa. The only problem was, before we could arrive, we had to go through the hassle of moving, of collecting boxes and packing up. I once read that moving, aside from divorce, is one of the most stressful things in life. It never gets easier, and it never gets any less tedious. But we were excited about the possibilities and future that awaited us in the United Methodist Church, where we know God called us to serve. As a pastor’s family, we’re absolutely willing to go wherever God appoints us, and we feel blessed to join the UMC Southwest Desert Conference.
Although we heard and knew about the hot weather in Phoenix, actually feeling the heat as we exited the airport was beyond anything we could have imagined. However, at the risk of sounding overly sentimental, the warm welcome we received from all the people at Journey UMC made this transition as smooth as possible. Despite having been here for only a few days, we are incredibly grateful for the love and support we’ve experienced so far at this amazing church. So thank you all for the lovely welcome. I’m really looking forward to this fresh new start, of a future that’s certain to be full of wonderful experiences, relationships, and memories. I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of the family at Journey UMC; to worship and to praise God in being part of a genuine, Christ-centered community. May God bless you all.
