11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Each of us has a special talent, perhaps some are blessed with more than one. We may be gifted with physical prowess, academic ability, or creative skills. Whatever our talent is, we must use it for the glory of God. As we continue onward through the stewardship season, we must focus on the giving of our talents, in addition to our time and treasures. Let’s remember these two points from Pastor Terry’s sermon:
- Stewarding our talents means we use what we’ve been given for God’s kingdom
- Stewarding our talents will grow our faith
Please read and think about each question as it applies to your Christian journey with Christ.
- Do you recognize your God-given talent or talents? How have you been using them for ministry, for God’s people and purpose?
- What do you think is the connection between stewarding our talents and the growing of our faith?
Lord, help us to recognize your blessings, especially how you’ve blessed us with talents. Make us aware of our gifts so we can steward them for your glory. Let us look outwardly at your mission and plan for this world and do our best, using what you’ve equipped us with, to help those around us. Amen.
