Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law. By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.
Today is the first Sunday of 2019, and before us lies another year of endless possibilities. Last week, we looked at the importance of making this year one of spiritual victories and accomplishments; a year to grow in faith and in our relationship with God. In relation, this week we should focus on the importance of recognizing our visions, especially as it relates to living a life of faith. If we want to make 2019 a spiritually successful year, we need to let our visions guide us, as we attempt to serve God to the best of our abilities. Let’s remember that our visions keep us faithful and obedient, and motivates us to live rightly for God.
Please read and think about each question as it applies to your Christian journey with Christ.
- What is your vision for your spiritual life this year? What is your vision for our church? How does your vision and faith relate to one another?
- What are your passions for ministry? Is there a connection between your vision and your passion?
Father, we ask that you give us a vision of how you want us to live and work for your kingdom. Help us to do what we can in this church and community, for your glory, as we live out those visions. Guide us through this year and give us your Holy Spirit, so we may be motivated to act in faith. In Jesus name, Amen.
