Scripture for the Week

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 NIV

We have many of our Journey family traveling. Traveling mercies to all!

Our relationship with God means we can bring our prayers and requests, and ask for God’s healing hand on the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

If you, or someone you know, is in need of prayer and would like to be included on this list, please let us know.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us

The Presentation of the Lord

Reflection: The Presentation of the Lord

Hebrews 2:14-18

14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

The greatest miracle the world has ever seen and will ever see is the incarnation of Christ. The theme of the Epiphany season is realizing the full nature and glorious presence of our Lord and Savior. As we continue through the early part of this year, we need to remind ourselves who Jesus is: our faithful high priest who came to help God’s people. Because Christ came, we have hope and we put our faith in God’s power over sin and death.

Reflection Questions:

Please read and think about each question as it applies to your Christian journey with Christ.
  • What does the realization of Jesus as fully human and fully God mean for you? How does this help you in your understanding of the freedom we find in Christ?
  • What are some ways we can show that we are no longer in bondage to sin and death? How should this glorious truth direct the way we live?

Lord, thank you for coming as a human being to free us. Let us, during this time, realize who Jesus truly is, our Lord and redeemer. Give us the motivation and hope that we can only find in you, and help us to live according to the truth of your inspired Word. In Jesus name, Amen.

East District Day of Learning

“Go, make disciples!” These are words we find in the gospel of Matthew, but how do we make disciples in this day and age? You are invited to an exciting journey as we engage in learning about what it might like to make disciples today, beginning with our own journey of transformation.

Beginning on February 3rd the Desert Southwest Conference will be Praying Our Way Forward

Prayer is one of the essential ways we connect to God and to one another, and in preparation for General Conference 2019, prayer will be one way we can all participate in this unique and significant event in the life of our church and our connection.

Beginning January 29th we will be releasing information in the district and conference newsletters about our Praying Our Way Forward GC2019 effort Feb 3rd-March 3rd. In the meantime, we are seeking written prayers, one-word prayers, liturgy, thoughts or stories that could become part of a devotional, even pictures you have taken, that we can use to build our daily prayer effort and to weave us all together as a connection praying for General Conference. If you have something you would like to share click the button below or share this link with someone you know who has something to share. Remember God Calls us to be a Courageous Church, Giving our Best, United in Hope, so let us fearlessly share our prayers.
