Tiffany Bluhm, a podcaster, speaker and author of a new book called She Dreams: Live the Life You Were Created For, has a gift for bringing people together to grow as followers of Jesus. In this conversation, she shares some of the ways she helps others make connections that help their discipleship. Being Seen

Reflection: Being Seen

Luke 19:1-10

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of
Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who
Jesus was, but because he was short, he could not see over the crowd. So he
ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming
that way.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come
down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once
and welcomed him gladly.

All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half
of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I
will pay back four times the amount.”

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Reflection Questions

Please read and think about each question as it applies to your Christian journey with Christ.
  • Consider the impact that being seen had on Zacchaeus. Identify 3 changes you can make this week to see those around you.
  • Do you feel seen? What impact has the feeling of being (or not being) seen had on you? What fears do you need to overcome or what challenges do you need to take to Christ?

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is
hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt,
faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be
consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to
love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are
pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
