Scripture for the Week

17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

Bible Study Opportunity

Sometimes finding JOY is absolutely an act of defiance. Joy is closer than you think because God is better than you may believe!

Are you looking for a Bible study right now? Have you thought about joining in, but the thought of reworking your schedule or being at a distance has put you off? Well, guess what? We're going to do a 6-week Bible study that'll put all of that scheduling stuff in the back seat!

Defiant Joy is a 6-week study that involves a little reading, some video watching, and some discussion. To make it as easy as possible, we've set up a Facebook group to handle all of the "location work"! Videos and discussion topics will be posted there to help keep everyone on track!

We'll determine a start date this week!. The goal is to start in time to finish up before Christmas!

If you would like to participate, please connect with Jen Salta or check our Facebook Group Page.

Reflections: Rebuilding Our Wall

The giver and the Goal

The Giver and the Goal

Acts 20:32-35

32 “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Too often the conversation on stewardship is about the church’s needs rather than the needs of the individual giver. It’s important to realize the church exists, not as an institution, denomination, or building, but as a community of people. We are the church, and the church’s needs are our needs. We give so we can meet our needs. It is truly more blessed to give than receive. Let’s remember this important point as we continue in our stewardship season.

Reflection Questions:

Please read and think about each question as it applies to your Christian journey with Christ.
  • How do you think about the stewardship of the church? What do you think about the connection between the church’s needs and your own?
  • What are some ways we might be “holding back” in our giving this year? What are some ways we can grow in our understanding of meeting the church’s (the community of God’s) needs?

Prayer:

Lord, show us what it means to be blessed through our giving. Let us be more generous for your kingdom and your work. Help us to be the hands that give and help. Amen.

Across the Connection

Worn-Path
He stood quietly and walked to the front of the room. As he took his place the chatter that had filled the space grew still. Heads turned. Expectant expressions came across the faces of the people in the room. When he spoke the words were simple, yet they seemed to pierce the heart.

Romans 12:2 (CEB)
Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.
